macOS OTP Autofill with Google Voice

For any other people who use Safari full-time and use Google Voice for 2 Factor SMS. (Just for those who upgraded to new Mac OS and iOS)

If you setup a Gmail filter to forward your GV SMS to your iCloud email, and log into that same iCloud email on your devices, Safari will use the 2FA codes from those emails, prefilling inputs and then deleting the email when you're done prefilling. It's a really nice integration for those who don't want to use their actual phone number.

Nice! Curious on how you manage to keep the same Google Voice for the long run to use it as 2FA?
I ported over my first phone number about 6 years ago, and it's been receiving SMS codes without issue ever since. I'm not sure if that's increased the reliability of GV in general though since it still reports via Twilio's number lookup tool as a landline.

GV is great if you need to spend an extended period out of USA because cell carriers will drop your service if you they see you spending most of your time out of the country. When I spent a few years abroad, GV was pivotal for getting into banks account. Also really nice to be able to make outgoing calls via the web interface with a number you won't lose.

I should have mentioned the benefit of iCloud email over gmail is that it supports actual push notifications without having to load your google account on devices using the exchange interface.
