All the recent excitement around things like smartphones as vice dispensary machines, AIs as bullshitters/plagiarists, the crypto scam ecosystem, the incredible scale of the surveillance of citizens that is taking place because of this tech, and to top it all off the fact that the industry just seems to be steered by gamblers chasing positive returns has really made me disillusioned with the entire field and its products.
When in doubt fall back on ol' reliable: The military industrial complex. Power is the only guarantee.
As if we're trying really really hard to make those tech dystopias become reality. It's exhausting to witness...
Tip to aspiring authors: never, ever, EVER presume to know (A) what your readers know or don't know ("10 things you didn't know about Topic X") or (B) what your readers should feel or be ("you should be a vegetarian/Luddite/whatever too"). It's downright condescending and is not earning you any readers.
