It would help to see something about a privacy policy. Letting a 3rd party into your inbox is like letting them into your home.
founder here: this probably suggests the fundamentals of the platform are misunderstood, which is already good feedback. But if it is thought that using Gmail for email has any less 'privacy', that is interesting. And that a privacy policy will somehow protect you. We use MongoDB queryable encryption (new feature) to mean email content is never known server side.
Unless you're based in some lawless jurisdiction, a privacy policy absolutely does protect users. If you believe otherwise, it's probably not a good idea to verbalise that opinion, especially if you are offering mailbox services :)
I've stopped using Gmail. The reasons why are obvious at this point.

Fwiw, Privacy is a point of differentiation. It's a feature where you can say "Our product is better...Better experience. And your digital colon isn't probed on the regular..."

Personally, I'm trying the best I can to not go back to email that doesn't respect privacy. There may not be many of me, but I'm not alone.

Privacy is the new black.
