This is the currently most requested feature on this page. I guess the page is more of a "Vote on Firefox Features (that we actually want to implement)" rather than actually doing what the users want.
This social media platform, while it's styled with Mozilla CSS, is a product made by Khoros. From what I can tell, they're a company that makes these gray label discussion boards and social media apps for other companies.
Unfortunately it's a proprietary solution. I was a little surprised to find that Khoros has over 1k employees; this product can't be cheap.
I love how they opened this, just so they can bury decade-old discussions on features that have occurred on the mailing list and Bugzilla.
"Hey, remember that thing I asked for, and a pull request for this feature is was possibly moving forward?" "Yeah, no, we're setting discussion on it back to step zero, get upvotes on Connect before we'll consider a pull request."
One step forwards, two step back: The Mozilla Way(tm).
Disclaimer: I'm a Firefox user, even with this massive stone around our collective necks, still better than whatever the hell Chrome thinks it is.
You can't succeed as an open source project if you're not committed to engaging with the outside developers sending you patches, and giving them no meaningful feedback on why the ticket for the patch is zombie-open for years.
You call it 4D Chess, I call it mismanagement. Google, just happens, to be bankrolling the mismanagement by buying their monopoly in the search world.

It looks like Firefox for Android will be getting more extension support by the end of this year according to the last comment here: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/expand-add-on-compatibi...

An initiative that gives users more power to influence Firefox direction? Nah, it's just a 4D-chess-y way of burying old issues.
