Single Pair Ethernet Anyone?

Does anyone know of products one could purchase to make some experiments with the technology as a hobbyist? My goal would be to exchange data at moderate to low speed (10Mbps or less) between small boards using the usual network stack but much simpler connectors and wires. Nothing professional or expensive, just the bare minimum to get started at hobbyist level.

That doesn't seem like a good path to follow. I recommend using serial as a transport, and layering IP over it if you truly need it (you probably don't).

Interesting, thanks, although still expensive. Hopefully costs will drop if and when the technology will be built into some microcontrollers where allocating 8 I/O lines for Ethernet would not be an option.
