What problems do sellers have starting their own online stores?

I get shopify, Amazon etc have a way for you to get started but actually getting customers I believe is the biggest challenge of sellers on all these platforms and their high fees too.

So for small niche sellers getting discovered is a problem. Etsy seems to solve that problem some what way but I don’t think it really does fully.
