Similar to the Black Mirror episode USS Callister, a person wakes up suddenly in a new digital world that is real to them, with no knowledge of how they really got there.

For existential reasons touched on in both USS Callister and The Amazing Digital Circus, I will never upload either my consciousness to something or take backup scans of my brain should such technology become viable in my lifetime. I cannot take the risk of either my full consciousness, a copy of such, or a rebuilt consciousness based on a brain scan being used for something without my consent. This could include unending existential torture, "AI" slavery, or any other possible nightmare scenario one could imagine.

I'm sure there are many here who are on the opposite side of the fence, where they can't wait to shed their body for virtual existence. What do you think of the idea of these risks and their implications?
