Teaching as work experience?

I've been lecturing CS at a state university for several years and I want to know how hirers feel about teaching as a substitute for work experience. I am a significantly better programmer and problem solver than my graduating seniors, but that only covers fundamentals -- I have no experience with industrially popular frameworks and tools.
