How Plausible Analytics Keeps a Tiny (< 1KB) Tracking Script (maxschmitt.me)

Is 1KB vs 2kB that much of a difference? Because with this system, you have to constantly update the included script tag, which for some organizations is not as easy as toggling a button in your tracking dashboard.
