If anyone is looking to buy any Apple device, USED, whether it be on Swappa or any online marketplace, verify ASAP that the device has the activation lock removed. Otherwise, years later after a hardware reset, it will trigger an activation lock. The idea behind activation locks are useful, if someone steals your phone, you can prevent the thief from using it, but in all other cases it can be problematic. What it is does is requests the owners icloud information in order to use it.I I am literally going through this right now as I bought an iphone 3 years ago and never used it. Went to reset the phone and update the latest OS and boom, activation lock. The seller does not remember their icloud information and the marketplace (Swappa) has told me that do to the length of time that has progressed, there is nothing they can do.( If there are no protocols in place on apple products, I would be very skeptical buying anything in the future without the steps I mentioned prior.) Therefore, I am out luck with a bricked $600 dollar paper weight. Be safe out there. Learn from this experience.
