I don't get what the autopilot feature has to do with the electric car part. This is framing it like that is a problem of the car being electric.

Seems like a pretty blatant attempt at FUD against EVs. Just a bunch of anecdotes. If this happens with a modern ICE car people wouldn’t blame it on being an ICE car. They’d blame it on the specific car or manufacturer. Perhaps on all the new fancy drive by wire and driving assitance stuff that modern ICE cars also have. But now every problem with an EV is somehow blamed on the car being electric.

I wonder if this article was sponsored by an interest group. Ridiculously bad journalism, especially for the guardian.

yeah this is a autopilot problem which comes from the fact that in car electronics are universally badly engineered. Just have a look at any talk about automotive security research.
