Yeah... you need a lot of clock frequency to partially make up for smartphones having just a single ram channel.
Is slower (and lower voltage) dual channel RAM not even an option at this point?

Maybe when smartphone chips start being chiplets, that will make more sense, as the bigger memory controller won't be so catastrophic.

I wonder if something like HBM where the RAM is integrated with the CPU package could work although phones don’t need the high performance and couldn’t afford the cost.

Maybe such tech would be good for standalone XR headsets though.

The first sentence of the article claims 9.6 TB/s speeds, but the linked press releases only claim 9.6 Gbps -- 8000x slower

The PR talks about speed per data pin, or do you really think that RAM is slower than a 10gig network interface?
