Might take a while before anyone can get it at $35k: "The GM brand will begin Equinox EV production with two higher priced trims, a front-wheel-drive RS model that starts at $48,995 and an all-wheel-drive variant at $52,395"
I'll believe it when I see it - every manufacturer has recently warned about excess EV inventory, so they're almost certainly not gonna go out their way to get the lowest margin version out
> base model will be priced at $34,995 and will come with a 319-mile range
Chevrolet's press release indicates the base model will have a 250 mile range, with ~300 mile range available only in higher trims with front wheel drive. [1]
Did the author make a mistake here or did GM have an efficiency breakthrough?
The Prologue will be a larger vehicle matching the Chevy Blazer. Honda has not announce a vehicle corresponding to the smaller Equinox. With their recent falling out, I don’t expect it to.
I want them to succeed, but I'm done with the brand until they take a hard look at quality. I feel like they're sacrificing quality to attempt to undercut on price.
My last two Chevrolet vehicles are completely bug ridden. My current one, with less than 30k miles, has infotainment that only works about 75% of the time. Sometimes it just goes black, and therefore no backup camera either. Sometimes it comes on, but the controls do nothing. Of course the dealer can't replicate it, so tough luck. Imagine having to drive with the radio too loud because the volume knob doesn't work.
More worrying, the entire interior now rattles so much, I often turn the radio on just to drown it out.
I have a mid 2010’s Equinox and my main gripe with it is also infotainment related. Notably there is just straight up no way to make the infotainment silent when you power up the vehicle. You have two choices:
1. Completely turn off the infotainment system and have it not come on when you power on the vehicle
2. Get the default radio station at a preset volume you have no control over.
It’s also had several more repairs than my other vehicle, and I’ve owned it for less than half the time that I’ve owned the other vehicle.
It’s a decent SUV though. Gets things from point A to B and has a pretty good amount of room when you lay the seats down

Technically the backup camera is required to be functional as per FMVSS 111. If the dealership is unable to fix it, a report to NHTSA might be warranted: https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem
