“Researcher” claims to have used “Quantum Concepts” using regular hardware and to have cracked RSA-2048. No proof, questionable pre-print paper, nothing to see here yet.
Sounds like a total crank, from the abstract of the paper making the claim[1]:
> ... We show that the equivalence of QC techniques (with IBM, Google and others compared with our version of QC) has been hidden for about 2,500 years – since Pythagoras. All our computations were done in a commercial cellphone, or a commercial Linux desktop, as our QC devices -- opening the user market to many industries. No cryogenics or special materials were used...
According to his profile[2] he also:
> Developed and widely published blockchain in 2001, thus protected and prohibited any patent. Protected by trade-secrets. End-to-end encryption and authentication that is secure and easy to use, and works in any platform without change.
"We broke the RSA-2048 key" is the equivalent of "I have no idea what I'm talking about, so I'll just say something slightly less dumb than what you'd see on NCIS".
Total bullshit. I looked at the corresponding paper and it contains virtually no actual mathematics, mostly just incoherent pseudo-philosophical rambling, including this insightful observation:
“Many different persons looking at our physical star, the Sun, may refer to it by different names qua symbols, but all agree on 1 physical value: there is 1 star, in English called the Sun, no matter where it sets or rises at each time of the year, or how it is called.”
Any journalist who gives this a breath of attention should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously, if you’re not capable of immediately sniffing out this type of crank shit then you’re not qualified to write about serious topics
"What has been happening is well-exemplified by Google. We investigate, in the RFC format of the IETF, illusions that benefit from false theories and false objections to infest Mathematics and Physics in the last 2,500 years. We use experiments, with nature as an arbiter, and numerical results -- rejecting algebra as objective proof (algebra can accept and work correctly with inexistent quantities). E.g., can quantum mechanics work without imaginary numbers and irrational numbers? We consider the YES answer experimentally, and point to the impotent reach of well-known academic positions in contrast, using algebra and compromising attempts to quantum computing. Nature is seen here as numerically undefinable. The power of experiments with numbers is to force truth over bias. As a result, "imagined science" cannot win over numerical experiments, as we take voting out of science."
