Apple allowing Twitter to completely rebrand with a new com bundle without forcing a new download from the app store was absolutely gross. I can't imagine a single other instance of this ever happening. Seeing that "X" magically pop up on my home screen was one of the most insanely anti-user things I've ever seen them do, not to mention setting a horrific precedent for security.
This should have required a new App Store download. What's next? Is it open season now for CCP spyware shell corps to start buying up apps that get automatically replaced without user consent?
Not being a huge fan of the major social media networks, this is no big loss for me, but I always found the share button a bit infuriating. I sometimes do want to share some videos or screenshots, but through signal or whatsapp, and it's virtually impossible. Airdrop is probably not going to happen, but that's what I want, just send it to my phone!
Does it not end up in the Playstation app or whatever? At least on Xbox any captures end up in the app. Nintendo has a bit cumbersome system using QR codes but that also works.
I just checked the app, and now I see I can enable that, I don't think I saw it before, but probably didn't check for years. I'll have to check when I get home to see if it works, it doesn't look like it sees my existing ones
I wonder what the usage of that feature looked like since I'd imagine a lot of players don't have a physical keyboard hooked up at all times, and X is still a largely text-based social network. Given how many hard r's I've heard gaming, maybe this will actually make X less vitriolic.

[ 2.9 ms ] story [ 42.8 ms ] threadThat happens often. What does not is an entirely new com bundle being treated as the same app: https://apps.apple.com/ca/developer/x-corp/id296415947

I find it funny x.com was one of the six original single letter domains and now it's the only single letter Apple App.
