Of all the places to publish a talk that criticizes big walled garden platforms....

You can say a lot about Doctorow but his writing usually gets republished in a lot of places. Last I checked, he has his Twitter feed, a Mastodon, hosts his stuff on Pluralistic and that last one is just a blog so he has an RSS feed too.

Granted this talk is not something he hosted, but generally speaking, Doctorow is the last one to make that argument with.

The guy is very good at outreach; the sad reality is that most people are on big walled garden platforms, so that's where you need to go to reach out. Him republishing his stuff to as many places as possible seems like the best of both worlds in that regard.

Ivory tower mentality is what gets us the FSF, and they have been awful at general outreach.

At least this wall is low enough that we can watch it without logging in.
There's a long history of revolutionaries using the resources of the current system during their struggle to destroy it. What else could they do?
This is not as long, but it was streamed on 10/11

the host on that show is charming and easy to listen to.. Cory is a riot on the mic, as usual! The host mentions he was de-platformed from Facebook for writing some ridiculous thing, and moved from the US to Mexico. great link thx
If you haven't read any of Cory Doctorow's writing, I highly recommend it.
Corey’s best-ever work, I think. Succinct, compelling and actionable.
