A recent post mentioned _Linear Algebra Done Right_ by Sheldon Axler. He seems to have an axe to grind about leaving determinants to the last chapter of his book. I can't blame him. When I took Linear Algebra in college, I found them confusing too. Hermann Grassmann showed the easy way.
