Feel like I'm in a timeline where the last 6 months of tech didn't happen every time this device gets mentioned, with whats happened in AI it just doesn't feel like the future of computing is "The stuff on your smartphone but floating around the room" anymore.
I’d disagree with that.

(1) It seems to be one of the world’s best kept secrets but Meta Quest 3 came out last month and it rocks. Karl Guttag hasn’t reviewed it yet because he knows his pessimistic reviews of products that hardly anyone can buy won’t hold up for a product that people will try for themselves.

That is, if you are interested in developing for Apple Vision and you aren’t getting started with the MQ3 you aren’t serious.

(2) Generative A.I. is expected to save “the metaverse” if anything can. That is, the problem w/ XR is the high cost of content authoring. It’s not going to become a mainstream medium unless the kind of people who invest in SEO and paid online marketing for various businesses can afford to author content for it.
