Kini is a small device intended to answer the question: "Is someone messing with my shit?"
When it detects vibration and acceleration, it will send out an SMS text message. To you. Not the alarm company, not the police, not third parties, just you. It's designed to be incredibly discreet and only needs one bit of info from you, your SMS number, and requires a working Wi-Fi and any SMS capable phone. No app required. No monthly fees.
The real goal is to make homes with children safer. If you've got a gun in a gun safe, or with a gun lock, or other way of securing that gun, Kini gives you another layer of protection by texting you if that gun moves, or the safe door opens. If you have prescription medicine, or recreational drugs, Kini can help you detect access of those items, and send you a text message ASAP.
Kini is also useful for homes where housemates, house sitters and house guests, may be getting into your personal items, or in places like an AirBnB where the owner's off-limits area is accessed.
Kini is the first product from startup Kinisium LLC. Our goal is to solve complex problems with simple and easy-to-use solutions wrapped around powerful technology.
Some more details:
* MSRP $65. Still available on Kickstarter for 30% off.
* The product is complete and ready for shipment. This is not a normal "risky" Kickstarter.
* Available to ship by the end of the month if pledged from Kickstarter. (Available to ship immediately if you order directly from us at retail price.)
* NO monthly or annual fees.
* 5-10 second average SMS delay. With some cellular carriers and with a cellphone closer to cell towers, we've see this number as low as 3 seconds.
* Rechargeable, but only needs to be recharged once every 12-18 months (average use).
* Only available for the US and Canada now. Other regions will be rolled out next year.
* 1.5" x 2.5" x 0.7" in size.
* Sensitivity of Kini can be adjusted by the user.
* In case of tamper or Wi-Fi outage, you will get an SMS (immediately for some tamper types, and after a set period for others).
* Designed, prototyped, tested, and mostly built in California. Data centers located in the US.
