I shop online because grocery stores allow dogs inside! Everything at ground level is contaminated with saliva, dog hair, urine, excrements and general dirt from streets!
do you assume that goods purchased online are carefully stored in pristine, sterile environments, of course until the one you ordered is individually accompanied to your doorstep?
In the suburbs of Boston where I shop, stores are operating normally, with almost all goods on the shelves. Reducing the level of shoplifting to a tolerable level is a matter of political will.
