For many, it's become obvious that the historically effective business models employed at newspapers all over the world aren't working as well as they used to.

I often see people suggesting that they find a new business model that works in an age of Internet, smartphones, and tablets, but I rarely see any specific suggestions.

If you were editor-in-chief of the New York Times (or the Washington Post, or the Wall Street Journal, or ...), what would you change?
