OpenAI is also one of the most dangerous companies in existence because its existing and future technologies are disrupting communities, livelihoods, and the world in general. The world does not need artificial intelligence. We need to focus on less efficiency and local communities, not replacing people who have earned their jobs through human creativity.

OpenAI is nothing without its people? History will look at these people as those who tried to play God and instead created a monster.

A mother loves her child. Those researchers certainly don't think of it as a monster. We can't know how history will look at those people.
So we should throw our hands up and see how this plays out? I think there's enough evidence that AI is already dangerous and has already caused enough harm that it's a good idea to crush AI any way we know how.

These researchers are like little children playing with guns. Cool at first until someone gets shot.

so let’s try to lock up all of the guns (we can’t) and prevent anyone from making or using guns (lol) because there aren’t any valid use cases for them, except you know the government probably needs it (surprise) since they can’t ostensibly stop other governments from trying to make and use guns (duh.)
Hi. Many countries, including Australia, have locked up the majority of guns....and it worked. Many countries have sane gun laws. Just because the U.S. cannot do it, doesn't mean it can't work.
except the actual technology to lock up can be downloaded.

oh shoot, so can gun models, they can be printed.

by 'people' they mean the people whose writing and code and art they scraped without consent, right?
This all seems very high school
The social dynamic of a corporation is not that different from a high school. People evolve rapidly intelectually but not that much emotionally.
