Is it safe to build with OpenAI API now thatAltman is gone?

Or will Azure OpenAI API be the one to get more future updates?

Ideally, I'd just transition to an open-source model like Llama, but the quality difference for my use case is staggering

Not at the moment. In fact, with 650 employees signed onto the quit letter so far, there’s unlikely to be an OpenAI by the end of the week.

Microsoft is not going anywhere so it would be safe to rely on them.

I've been having the same concerns. At the very least it seems prudent to build on the Azure GPT APIs rather than directly through OpenAI

Altman leaving wouldn't harm the OpenAI API.
