Judging by Disneys upcoming roster of films and TV shows I don't think they have learnt. Even after every film they released this year flopped, they're still persuing this failed philosophy. Their last two releases this year, the Marvels and Wish are going to lose them around $400 - $500million.
It doesn't matter though, they're rapidly turning into a very attractive takeover target with their stock price so depressed. The decision will so be taken out of their hands.
I have two small children, and can't name a Disney movie made after Frozen. Their new stuff is just a bit bland and run of the mill in my opinion. Nothing to do with any perceived political values.
Nah, I think this is bullshit. One of the big movie of this year was Barbie, which is way more 'woke' than any Disney. A pretty 'woke' movie was honor among thieves, which wasn't great but still a better adventure/story than all recent Disney/Marvel movies (who imo are less 'woke', but I do not know the exact definition). Eeaao is also quite woke and was a huge success (the best postmodern film since Blade runner imho), and Dune was critiqued for 'being woke', and was still a success (I'd call it the worst Villeneuve movie, but it was mostly okay).
No,the reason why Disney movies fail is because they are bland rehash of already existing movies, who follow marketing instead of authors/directors. In general, I'm really disappointed in new movies from known directors, the worst being in my mind, Ridley Scott (who created the best medieval movie in 2007, and now all his recent film shit on historical realism, enough to bother me. And since my father worked on two of his recent movies, I had/have to watch it :/)

Seems like the authors of the article have a political agenda of their own to me.
