"Pioneer"? Open source email clients had been around for 30 years before Roundcube existed?

So many people in tech today live as if nothing existed before their career started. That is not good.

"Pioneer" means they did not invent it. If they invented it, they could say inventor instead of pioneer.
I know what pioneer means and I was responding appropriately.
My memory is a bit hazy, but wasn't roundcube got its popularity because it has more features than squirrelmail? Back then when you need a webmail client, it's either squirrelmail or roundcube. There might be others but I didn't pay any attention to this space back then.
There was also IMP/Horde and these days we have rainloop too.
It seems bizarre to describe a modern company as an "open source email pioneer"

The email pioneers are from a different era. Sendmail is a pioneer in email, not some modern company.
