I think its worth it. Godot is an excellent game engine / community / project / software. And you can do whatever you want[0] with it and its source code with no chance of having that taken away from you.
I doubt Unity is going to disappear any time soon, but they are doing a pretty good job of demonstrating the benefits of free software.

Is support for webgames/HTML5 fully re-added yet? It's hard to tell, as few things have been announced on it, and the lack of webgame questions on the forum about 4.x is not reassuring.
I was looking into the state of that in the last week or so and I believe the answer is: not really, it's still generally recommended to use the LTS version (3) for projects targeting web/HTML5.
The addition of hot reload of extensions finally makes C++ programming on the new Godot bearable. It was a deal breaker when I touched the game engine from 4.1 and this release delievered exactly what I wanted.
The editor restarts fast enough that, for me, it was a tolerable part of the iteration process. But yeah this is a massive improvement; GDExtension is a really important part of what makes Godot attractive for serious game development.
Great stuff in this release.
Also thanks to the influx of former Unity users a lot of tools / modules / templates have been given a shot in the arm and the general maturity of Godot has increased a great deal recently. Its not yet at a level that some people would want, but its great to see progress.

It's still much more mature than Godot, but at what cost.
The day is coming when Godot will get its own AAA rendering implementations, and people will migrate en masse.
