We software guys sure are spoiled when it comes to the ease of releasing new software, most of us anyway, it's not like most of us have to plug a hole into the ocean ever to install a new software component.
Then again there's embedded software running in environments where the hardware is very hard to get to. Mars Rovers, satellites, etc.
There are certainly cases where the infrastructure needed to actually carry on a software update out-measures the size and complexity of the to-be-updated software.
Would love to hear some of your software upgrade horror stories where the upgrade itself was a really tedious thing to do.
