I love this creator’s projects and this one is especially beautiful. The proportions and the brass colors really give this thing a wonderful aesthetic. Do yourself a favor and subscribe to the guy, he really has the hacker mindset in my opinion.
My Blue Yeti doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as his homemade mic.

The build quality is also really impressive. What a range of skills.

Question for the electrical/audio engineers in the crowd: could I get similar results by simply yanking the capsule out of my Yeti and soldering in the capsule shown in the video?
No, because the enclosure has a significant impact on the acoustics and is designed for the capsule. It's the same as swapping the driver out in a loudspeaker. You might get lucky, but probably not.
I like the project, but, I have to say that the budget specified by the author (30$) is unrealistic: only for the electronic board and microphone capsule the expense is 60+E, I just calculate it with a major electronic supplier I'm regular customer. Then you have to spend roughly the same in brass, associated hardware, etc and around 20-30E for the USB interface. So we are talking about 150+E ( shipment costs excluded ) and saying that you don't need tools, consumables, etc
