13 years the Tories have been in power, and this is where things have got to.
The title is misleading:

- He receives £843 in cash benefits each month.

- He lives in a one bedroom flat (not a studio) and has no flatmates (which is his largest expense)

- The UK has taxpayer-funded universal healthcare

- He has no job

- He gets some food for free from a food bank

I'm always amazed at how so many people complain about money, while they live in a single bedroom with no roommates.

I have friends who live paycheck to paycheck, and they pay $500-$1k more a month in rent than I do while they make much less than me, just insane.

If you follow that ridiculous thinking you can justify anything on the bases off "someone in India has it worse".

How about we reject poverty and feel a deep sense of shame that such a thing exists in a G20 country?

This seems like a straw man. What about people in his own country that have to support themselves while being obligated to pay taxes to help support this person as well? Does the UK have no one who would enjoy a free apartment like his to themselves? I'm not against supporting those in need but in my opinion if a system has universal value then those who make it possible should get a free priority slot in it.
I earn 6 times the minimnum wage in my country, but if I had a bad salary, I would still live alone. The peace and quiet of your own place cannot be traded for money.
Yeah he’s living the dream. Truly, do people realise how messed up the situation is in the uk and how nearly all stats that show a positive outlook are fake? Take the nhs, and government ratings. Hospitals rate as good or outstanding but google reviews show 1-2.5 average ratings at most. People waiting in queues, patients begging to see doctors, wrong prescriptions. Schools riddled by drugs and gangs, roads filled with potholes, and the list goes on.

People ignoring these issues dont love the country. Something needs to change asap otherwise the uk will disintegrate.

> Yeah he’s living the dream.

You're attacking a straw man.

My point was simple: the claim that he lives "off £30 a month" is untrue.

I didn't suggest he's "living the dream", and I don't envy his situation. But I can see how you or others might envy his situation, as he doesn't have to work, has a home to himself with all bills paid, has a source of free food, plus some cash to supplement that.
