Show HN: 210 Ideas, 351 pages – the Unvalidated Ideas 2023 Edition eBook (unvalidatedideas.com)

Hey HN,

I wrote the Unvalidated Ideas newsletter (https://unvalidatedideas.com) for just over a year -- ~70 editions.

While I have something like 600+ ideas, turns out they're not all good enough to send (actually, more than 50% just weren't good enough!), so I eventually ran out of ideas. I shut down the newsletter, refunded every customer whether partially, and stopped making the paid ideas available.

One thing I promised to do when the newsletter ended was make a compendium of sorts with all the paid content that someone could download (a PDF eBook, essentially) for a fraction of what it would have cost to subscribe to the newsletter that long.

It took me a while (you wouldn't believe how hard it was to go from markdown to decent-looking eBook PDF) but I finally put it together -- the Unvalidated Ideas eBook 2023 Edition is here.

210 ideas, 351 pages all crammed into one eBook. If that sounds like something you'd like, check it out here:

You can also still read the last free edition (and earlier ones!) here:

It was a great ride (and my first successful newsletter), so it's hard to say goodbye to thousands of subscribers but I'm a strong believer in never selling email addresses (ads maybe, but never the actual email addresses), so the email list is just getting deleted.

For those who care, my stack that served 1000 < x < 2000 subscribers every week:

- Svelte + SvelteKit (i.e. Typescript + NodeJS) - Listmonk (https://listmonk.app) - SMTP (yup, selfhosted w/ Maddy https://maddy.email)

If/when I do it again (there's a new newsletter which is focused around businesses worth $5k to $50k that are good to buy), I'm going to use Substack/Beehiiv/Ghost, but it was fun to build the stack this time.
