But you have to admire someone who's willing to run a business into the ground for his ideals, even if those ideals are a leeeetle bit contrary to good sense.
(Fuck Alex Jones and all those who hang out with him.)
Im my view, he's stuck reasonably closely to the "secret Tesla master plan" for almost two decades. Some people will point out that he hasn't stuck 100% to it, with which I agree, but as I read it, he's followed it more than closely enough to demonstrate that he'll follow his principles.
And that plan specifies ideals, so he has ideals too. Quoting: "the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors … is to help expedite the move … towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution."
And it's just a shame that he felt the need to lie about Tesla so often?
In 2016 Tesla claimed "as of today, all Tesla vehicles produced in our factory – including Model 3 – will have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver":
That was a straight up lie. Where were his ideals and principles then?
Why did he lie about the $35,000 Model 3? Why did he lie about the $40,000 Cybertruck? Why does he feel the need to lie about something as trivial as quarter mile times for a truck:

Make a good point. What Musk detractors aren’t willing to admit is that Alex Jones is important to the solar electric economy. We know this is true because the model 3
the purpose of Tesla is to make money. The plan of Elon is gain fame out of this monetary success.
What facts is there showing he chose to "help expedite the move towards a solar electric economy" over classic capitalist business decisions?
The thing that tends him some altruistic aura is that his plan to make money was very risky, very crazy, so people feel the need to assign it some higher purpose, while in fact money and eventually fame has always been the purpose.
Honestly I suspect that a lot of this is because his fan base rewards it. He seems to desperately want people to like it, and he’s largely burned any other bridges there, so he’s largely reduced to pandering to the more conspiracy-heavy section of the far-right.
I used to be pretty sceptical about social media addiction as a concept, and I’m still inclined to think that it’s not a real danger for most people. But there definitely do seem to be some vulnerable people who it really breaks.
"But you have to admire someone who's willing to run a business into the ground for his ideals"
What ideals? He said just few months ago he'll never unban Alex Jones because: "I have no mercy on anyone who uses the deaths of children for gain, fame or politics."
Those were his stated ideals. As you see they're worth zero.
this. Elon has no principle or ideals, he makes strong and often insulting statements which he then changes a couple of weeks later. He's like a two year old, but significantly more dangerous.
Even uglier than the whims of a two-year old, he may be motivated by advance knowledge of today's news by Tucker Carlson: Carlson is moving forward with his plans for a private streaming framework for his shows.
Effectively he's moving his show off Twitter. And fearing the coverage, I could see how Elon Musk wanted to find a similar figure to put in his place both to suppress the news of Carlson leaving, and to avoid the narrative of an "X-odus" spreading from big advertisers, to the prominent right-wing figures on X seen leaving.
It all comes down to ego, appearances, and power. All very ineptly wielded, since if your best hope is inviting Alex Jones to your platform, you definitely have to stop and think hard WTF you're doing wrong.
I respect someone who has "ideals" as a matter of principle, someone who will sacrifice and forfeit gain for those ideals.
Freedom of speech! Also - I am going to make a lot of money in China, where people literally disappear for speech. If you are that rich, I sort of expect you to be a crap human in SOME way, but stop fronting like you have wings growing out of your back.
Musk can say two opposite things in two adjacent sentences, but the Alex Jones thing takes the cake.
I want to hear the "but what about the children!" crowd discuss this. Awfully quiet in here. Main-stream media something something. Main-stream media did not fire Twitters safety and compliance team, and did not reinstate the vomit stain of a human that is Alex Jones. Elon Musk did it - ALL of it.
Jones generated controversy for spreading false, wild conspiracies, claiming that a "New World Order" was sacrificing children on a California compound; that the U.S. government had "weather weapons" that triggered catastrophes like major floods; and that FBI Director Robert Mueller was a demon.
Shortly after being formally re-instated on X, Jones and Musk joined Vivek Ramaswamy, Laura Loomer (a self-described "proud Islamophobe" who has been banned from some platforms) and others in a live chat on Sunday.
"I'm telling you they want us silenced for what we said," said Jones.
The conversation covered a series of, at times, confusing topics including the "deep state" and the threats that the participants perceived to masculinity.
Adding Andrew Tate to the mix solidifies Musk as the Salt Bae of “Go fuck yourself. Go. Fuck. Yourself.”

A year ago he would not reinstate Alex Jones:

And his supposed "free speech absolutism" is nothing but hypocrisy:

Musk is an attention seeking narcissist. He is determined to turn himself into a cartoon and he is succeeding.

It's pathetic.
That's the problem with lies. Lies make you a liar.
Here you go, this one is 35090.
Ciao
Yet another failure. Sorry, there are no breaks for serial liars.

Elon Musk allows controversial conspiracy theorist Alex Jones back on X

Well, he’s creative, anyway. That’s a Charlie Stross storyline.
Just a grand old time :-/
