What gifts are you giving?

It’s that time of the year and once again I’m wracking my brain to come up with the right gift for the people in my life. I’m looking for inspiration so let me know what gifts you are getting for your loved ones

I’m not giving gifts this year and I didn’t last year either. I seemed to give up on Christmas after 2020. I for some reason cannot bring myself to waste money on Christmas and I also don’t want my family members to feel obliged to buy me gifts either. I don’t want them having either the financial burden of it, nor do I want them to feel stressed trying to think of something to buy me. So a few weeks ago I messaged all my relevant family members and told them I was opting out of Christmas this year. No one minded.

However, in the past some of the things I’ve gifted to the sister-in-law include: - a new handbag - fancy loose leaf teas from her favourite tea shop. - a fancy teapot - cosmetics - a gift card for her favourite book shop - chocolate - perfume.

For the guys in my life (all of whom are avid gamers/computer nerds): - 1 year subscriptions to their respective chosen gaming platforms. - new headsets. - gaming related paraphernalia for their favourite games. - light up keyboard - gaming chair - sometimes actual gaming consoles. - novelty socks - belts - men’s cosmetics - lights/lamps - cups - wallets

And then for my mum: - cookbooks - craft shop gift cards - I once bought her an entertainment unit.

This is all a step up from the year that I decided inflatable items were cool - which meant every single family member got an inflatable gift. One aunt got an inflatable rubbish bin, another aunt got an inflatable chair, my brother got an inflatable cactus, poor mum got an inflatable whale, and someone else got an inflatable Christmas tree, and I believe I was running out of inflatable ideas so I gave my cousin a beach ball - which was of course inflatable. It was like some kind of ADHD hyper-focus obsession with inflatables and every year my family laughs at me over the inflatable gift phase I went through.
