Ask HN: How much data do you create, how much do you consider is essential?

We are free to create as large of a digital footprint as we desire within the boundaries of the digital space. How much do you create and what do you consider essential? I have some personal writings, projects and photos and I realized I don’t have more than 32mb that’s meaningful. I started taking photos and although I wouldn’t consider them essential, they are valuable enough to backup but nothing I’d lose sleep over if they disappeared. I was creating a home backup system, and I was thinking about the size of the storage I needed in addition to my family’s and I only have some passwords and text files.
