Why the hell does this thing have a lithium ion battery in it?

Do we have intermittent power to our doorbells in some settings? I am struggling with the scenario where this makes sense.

I assume this is needed to be able to handle triggering the doorbell chime in series without disrupting other communication or resetting the doorbell.
I thought most doorbells didn’t have power to them directly. They’re just dumb switched
TL;DR: He used 30v instead on 24v, that broke the device.
