“All hell broke loose” is some fine hyperbole. Someone found that the bot was just a ChatGPT frontend, due to the prominent “Powered by ChatGPT” label right on top of the chat window, and got it to write some python script. Other people went and got the bot to talk about some stuff, and engaged in some not-very-interesting chatting. The End. Nothing broke, nothing was lost, nothing happened.

Saved you a click.

Their API bill will likely be several thousand dollars this month.
Right, but they definitely got more than several thousand dollars worth of advertising from the publicity.
What's the name of the dealership? Cause I have no idea, it's just "that dealership with the chatgpt chatbot"
If it was local to you you'd probably remember.
This guy built an entire business off of selling a little JavaScript chat "frontend" to ChatGPT and nothing else? I'm in the wrong industry.
