Well, that's quite a tall claim.

Honestly, small talk still seems like it’s from the future compared to the micro services glued together approach that is mainstream of today.
so why is nobody implementing stuff in smalltalk?
This isn’t based on any data, just my intuition…

I don’t think humans usually choose the “best” solution. They use solution that are a combination of readily available, easiest to get started with, and popular.

I think it was a little ahead of its time.
Is there a smalltalk variant that uses a more conventional language and can rely on its package ecosystem?
