I'm not sure this is credible. It stretches belief that Google would even have thirty thousand people in it's ad sales unit. That would be nearly 20% of alphabet employees if true. After laying that many people off there presumably wouldn't be anyone left at all in ad sales. This would seem odd for a company which makes it's money selling ads.
The article mentions that all they have said is that they will restructure a division that happens to be 30k people.
In the worst case that would be 30k people laid off, so I guess technically the headline is not a lie? Pretty close to one though.
