[ 3.9 ms ] story [ 30.5 ms ] thread
I'm the developer and would love to have folks join me in logging off for the start of the year. Built this after taking the last three months off of social media. It is pretty straightforward tech-wise, but the ritual of locking yourself out has proven really powerful for me.
What happens if your hard disk fails completely?
Just reset the password with a new one?
I missed that "loophole"!

It cn be used to cheat and reconnect before the official time, but I guess the additionañ steps are useful to discourage it.

@OP: Anyway, if a moron use this in the main email account that is the recovery addres for everithig, and the hard disk in the server crashes, do yo have a good backup?

indeed you can do this. truly embarrassed that it took me as long as it did into my initial detox (2 months) to realize i could just reset my password! but as mentioned in this thread, that's fine if someone figures that out. not going to advertise it, and if someone uses it, then i'm sure they have a good reason.
thanks, i appreciate the question. right now just running regular backups, but i think a redundancy system would be better. will investigate, implement, and do a little write-up this week. :)
oh wow, i so needed this, perfect for my new year digital detox!!!
