My only Microsoft machine, Win7, just lost the ability to play GTAIV (Steam stopped Win7 support in 2024, BOO).
But it is still my main machine for anything financial or government -related, online. Most "official" websites still allow login/connections — whether legacy (or not) I'm not sure... as I don't need "all the features."
I bought a pristine N64, today, instead [of playing GTA]... came with 007 and MarioKart64. Craigslist has its miracles.
To answer your question on debloating a more modern system: I don't want to [run something so cloud-dependent, requiring self-installed updates]. I turn Win7 on, and it boots in seconds — exactly to my unchanged specification(s).
If my main application need was still supported on XP... I'd be running that =D
I guess whatever works. I think the LTSC version of 11 that is coming out later this year should have the bare minimum. I have yet to test it. But yeah, I understand why you choose to stick with 7.
I ran Windows Server 2016 as a desktop operating system for a while, you can use a trial version for six months, which I found much less annoying but is not a solution to all the issues this guy is complaining about, and driver signing was a hassle.

As Microsoft declines, so does Windows. Microsoft can't afford to produce a better Windows.
