Thoughtful and personal, thank you for sharing OP.
Experiencing human stories and situations first-hand and putting a face and a name on what exactly happened is one of the best ways to gradually become slightly more enlightened.

Everyone needs a passport and to travel, including to places that make them uncomfortable, to find out what life is about, to separate the real from lies, and realize there are wonders and wonderful people throughout the world.

Spoiler alert: Most people have roughly the aims and qualities the world over. Preconceptions will be shattered.

PS: If you look at the now-outdated satellite maps of Gaza, there was a great deal of agriculture surrounding urban areas including hydroponic farms that were rebuilt by NGOs the last time around. Most of that has been likely destroyed again, along with half of all housing. 1.9-2 million people are now homeless and most of those don't have a home to go back to. There absolutely must be a Marshall Plan to rebuild Gaza for livable conditions for human beings equal to Israeli, European, and all lives. Furthermore, if you've been paying attention to the region, it is routine that extremist settler terrorists murder people at random, steal land, and IDF snipers murder children, women, and journalists arbitrarily with total impunity; and half or more of Israelis are not okay with this but lack real power to unseat their extremist regime of convicted racists, worshipers of the terrorist Baruch Goldstein, and champion of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin. And 1 million children of Gaza now need therapy, counseling, and possibly antidepressants from all of the stresses and chaos of war... after they get some food, water, showers, bathrooms, and somewhere warm to sleep and the bombs stop falling every few minutes.

A Western news outlet that closely follows the Palestinian perspective with original interviews and also those of Israelis and Jews advocating for Palestinians on this issue. (And, of course, kibbutzim members were interviewed after the terrorism.) News summary streams every morning M-F at 5am PT/7am CT/8am ET/2pm UTC/4pm IST. 28 years and still going strong.
