Periodically we see HN stories on non Von Neumann memory with some ability to compute in parallel on memory the processing unit is attached. Even if just for R&D where might I find a vendor?

I assume you're thinking of in-memory or near-memory computing devices. You can try upmem (https://www.upmem.com) for memory modules which integrate thousands of data processors (DPU) uniquely positioned within the DRAM memory chips and next to the data.
