Ask HN: Whispersync for Podcasts/Blogposts?

2 points by smeej ↗ HN
Whispersync is Amazon's tool that allows you to read a Kindle book, and then switch over to listening to the Audible version, fairly seamlessly. Is there any tool that does something similar for podcasts/blog posts?

I'm imagining a tool taking both kinds of input, creating a transcript from a podcast, or a synthetic speech audio file of a blog post, and allowing you to read and highlight, or switch into listening mode when you're cooking/driving/whatever. Bonus points if you can highlight text, especially if you can do it while listening like Snipd or Airr.

An e-reader pagination option for scrolling and export of notes would be icing on the cake. The ability to self-host it completes my dream version of it.

But does any such thing exist? I can read much faster than I can listen, even on 2x speed, and my retention is much better, so if it only went the podcast > transcript direction, I'd take that too!
