Ask HN: What are professionals and personal reasons you're learning French?

I mean, could also be any language in General, not just French.

I've always wanted to live in Paris and get around West Africa easily, so French has long been on the list to learn. I put in more than 1k days into Duolingo but think it was more habit than helpful overall and am going to try to just do immersion soon!

I migrated from Italy to work for Odoo, a Belgian ERP company in Wallonia. I speak english with my colleagues, but I'm learning French as it's the main language here.
