Ask HN: How are you able willingly give up control over your project?
I have been learning a lot of web development and was really frustrated about the current state of it, the more I learned about it. Everything there feels like sticking together some Lego house with pre-built parts.
Authentication and payment I can get behind, as it's simply more secure to use a service that focuses on that. But I have to say, it really bothers me not knowing what the tech I use precisely does in the background and I am not willing to give up that kind of control.
So I personally stepped away from web development for now to learn more basics. Currently reading Beej's Guide to C and that sparked something in me. After having learnt C#, Go, Java-/Typescript and some Rust. I want to build applications from the ground up and fully understand what is happening under the hood. None of the languages I named allow me to do so, except for C.
I fear, with the growth of LLMs now, developers will give up more control then ever. How do you personally think about that? How are you able to give up that much of control over your application?
