The only similar game I've played is Infinifactory, but it's a series of puzzles and you don't have one giant factory which you develop continuously.
Satisfactory is more similar to Factorio. It's a 3D game with nice graphics, and there aren't monsters trying to destroy your factory.
These should both be perfectly fine for a 12-year-old, but I'm not sure about a kid as young as 5. Infinifactory can certainly be quite challenging even for adults.
