Ask HN:Why is HN, the hub for people who create top websites, a shitty website?

Backend: Slow, very slow. Some days, even slower.

Business logic: Pure shit. These days more and more people have enough karma to down vote, and it can be observed that the mean user with down vote power doesn't use it wisely. Needless to say, the thresholds for who can down vote has been set as in an ad-hoc manner, as the rest of the HN was put together.

WTF? This is the website of a start up that generates start ups?

Now I'm not talking about giving it a face lift by css3 gradients and round borders. The minimal reddit-style frontend is nice. But the rest is shitty.
