The actual registration and information page[1] has this requirement which seems to violate the DMA?
"The search provider must have an app that is available for free of charge in Google Play to EEA users. The search provider must be in compliance with the terms of the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement."

The unremovable search widget on the home screen is probably the most annoying thing about "clean" Android phones
(Yes, I know that you can install a different home screen to get rid of it)
