I’ve been wondering about that given the constant stream of user generated content I’ve seen on social networks, so Gaza is so small that it can catch a roaming signal. Thats actually pretty amusing.
The article did point out a frustration I’ve also had with eSIM, about needing a connection to download and activate one.
How is the electricity handled? Just solar? thats enough for phones but I’m curious
from what i have seen lately, journalists carry with them small SLA batteries and inverters. they will charge these off panels when needed to stay charged for a couple days at a time
I hope the civilians in Gaza that are acting as the “human routers” in order to provide the initial connectivity needed to even use an eSIM stay safe. The way Israel regularly bombs the journalists (and their families) I wouldn’t be surprised if these civilians are being targeted for simply opening a public hotspot.

Here is one of the many incidents where the journalists' offices and headquarters including critical communication infrastructure for broadcasting and news dissemination are routinely and systematically being demolished [1].

They break monopolies, you don't have to pick up the sim or wait a week for the mail, they will reduce pricing.
You should be able to hit a country running after landing at the airport with a good plan, it should help with travel.
And hopeful break some of the Big Brother restrictions around needing ID, as you see here.
> requires climbing somewhere high, like the exposed roof of a building.
You can buy a powered repeater and put the antenna on the roof - https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=phone+repeater
But I don't get why you can't plug phones straight into antenna, especially with Starlink cellphone coming.
I guess price for the connector?
Some older phones had a antenna connector on the back side so when you connected them to holders in a car the reception got ridiculous.
Could you provide any sources for sentences?
