The footage from Ukraine is absolutely astonishing. This war is documented in such up close and personal ways, from above with drones, from soldiers POV with gopro like cameras. It's absolutely wild watching video on the internet taken form a battle, sometimes within 24 hours of it occurring.
Also interesting is how close these armor vs armor engagements are. A lot of modern doctrine seems to focus on distance but the videos from Ukraine show they're engaging in "drive by shooting" type ranges.
I was told by the armchair generals on the internet that the infamous tank battle scene in the movie 'Fury' was totally unrealistic specifically because the opposing tanks fight at such close range.
Yet here we have a video from an actual war showing something very similar.
the weaker and riskier position was on the ukr side...they dont want to repeat those same circumstances too often...it was effectively a near miss and if you dont learn from near misses you are prone to end up badly
Exhibit A right here if anyone is still wondering why Russia is such a disaster of a state in spite of having USA-level territory & natural resources, and Japan-level population.
