YC S11 startup looking for embedded software / hardware engineer
We're a YC S11 startup working on a consumer product in a largely untouched but huge market. The product includes a hardware device and we're looking for an embedded software / hardware engineer to join our team. The startup initially came out of research at UC Berkeley and our team consists of a very strong engineering and product design team. We're well funded, and if that sort of thing impresses you, our investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund and Y Combinator. We'd love to hear from you if you're really good at atleast 4 items in the list below and are confident / excited about learning more about the rest:
- Experience programming PIC microcontrollers.
- Multi-level bootloaders.
- File systems - especially flash file systems.
- Direct hardware control of SOC peripherals like DMA, PWM, ADC,
Flash, I2C.
- Hardware and software debuggers.
- Deep understanding of bluetooth stack: pairing, security, profiles,
connections, scanning, discovery.
- You love messing with build and linker scripts.
- You can build a lock-free multi-threaded data structure from scratch.
- C99 - You know lots of stupid details like what "extern C" does.
- Experience building hardware to support Apple's MFi program (2 points)
- Logic families CMOS, TTL. Basic circuit analysis. BJT, FET, gates,
voltages, currents, inductors, resistor dividers, etc.
- You're an engineer interested in security and have demonstrable
examples of designing secure systems.
- Familiar with automotive communication protocols and enjoy hacking
on cars (2 points).
We're working on some hard problems that spans embedded software, hardware, iOS / Android development and large scale server side systems. We're early enough that you can make a major contribution to the startup. Sorry about the lack of details about what exactly we do, but we haven't launched. We're happy to discuss that in detail if you're the person we're looking for. The position is based in San Francisco and we'll help you relocate. All the usual things like competitive salary, equity, health insurance, equipment budget etc. are available. Please write to ucbstartup@gmail.com if you're interested. Tell us about yourself and include a resume and examples of your work if available. If you're not a good fit, but know a friend who is, we'll buy you a fully loaded iPad if you share this and he/she ends up joining our team!
